KLÄMP is a formidable musical collective with members scattered across the UK and the Netherlands. This group, now comprising seven members, has its roots in a trio that expanded over the past four years. The current KLÄMP lineup includes both current and former members of notable bands such as IDLES, Sex Swing, Tall Ships, Manatees, Do Me Bad Things, Pulled Apart By Horses, Petbrick and Mugstar. This diverse musical heritage infuses KLAMP’s sound with a rich mix of influences and sounds.

Since their raw and antagonistic 2020 release “Hate You” on God Unknown, KLAMP has undergone a significant transformation. The 2025 incarnation of the band presents a vastly evolved force. Their latest album, “TOTAAL TECHNIEK,” released on Human Worth, is a testament to their artistic growth and exploration. The album traverses a broad range of genres, seamlessly blending elements of Krautrock, Breakcore, Industrial, and Post Punk. Each track is a new journey, characterized by an innovative sound and intricate musical textures.

A key aspect of KLAMP’s evolution has been their ever-expanding roster of collaborators. The original line-up of Jason Stoll (Sex Swing / Mugstar / JAAW), Lee Vincent (Pulled Apart by Horses) and Greg Wynne (Manatees) have been joined by Adam Devonshire (IDLES), Matthew Parker (Tall Ships), Rachael Morrison and Wayne Adams (Petbrick / Big Lad) along with other collaborators, helping to develop the sound into a new space both beautiful and bleak, harsh and euphoric – sometimes all at once. This openness to collaboration has infused their music with fresh ideas and new energy, ensuring that no two performances or recordings are ever the same. Their live shows are particularly notable for their intensity and unpredictability, offering audiences a mind-bending lesson in musical exploration and emotional depth.

Brighton based charitable label Human Worth (Enablers, Sly & the Family Drone, Cassels) have pressed up a limited edition of ‘TOTAAL GOLD’ vinyl, with a limited with 10% of all proceeds donated to Compass Collective – a charity supporting the integration of young refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK through the arts.

For fans of: SWANS / THE FALL / EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN / WIRE / LOW / GODFLESH / GSY!BE / SPIRITUALIZED / MBV / MARK LANEGAN / THE THE / WARP RECORDS / LOOP / SABBATH.

+ guests: TV FACE + alright (okay)

TV FACE are three socially awkward weirdos from Lancaster. Their songs serve “sonic fury with a satirical edge … blistering, genre-defying … both chaotic and meticulously tight” (HellaFuzz). Live, TV FACE are known for their high-intensity performances, “with dynamics I’ve not seen since the likes of Therapy? … in the early nineties” (Louder Than War). This August, they will headline the Introducing Stage at the UK’s biggest punk festival - REBELLION.

The band release their records on Preston’s hothouse of talent - Crackedankles Records. Riding the wave of success of their critically acclaimed 2023 debut album TIDE OF MEN (featured on several album of the week/year lists), the band will release their 2nd LP WOLF RENTS BARK in September 2025. The first single taken from the album - BOOTS POCKET COFFIN - was released in May 2025; a horror-tinged floor-filler, likened to “The Cramps jamming with Lightning Bolt in a fallout bunker” (Buzzy Band). The translucent red lathe-cut 7” vinyl sold out in under two hours. A 2nd single WHITE NOISE – WHITE LIES arrives on 8th August on a ltd-ed white lathe-cut 7” single to coincide with their Rebellion debut.

_____

Emerging from Liverpool’s DIY community, alright (okay) have been carving out a bold reputation for their raw energy, relentless creativity, and untethered sound. The band thrives on an unfiltered, scrappy intensity that sets them apart – both on record and on stage.

With a sound straddling the line between alt rock, post-punk, and noise-pop, alright (okay) captures a sense of restless urgency that resonates with audiences craving something real.

At their core, alright (okay) is a band that thrives in a live setting. Their music is written with performance in mind – crafted to connect with an audience, to build moments of intensity, and to leave a lasting impression long after the final note.

This methodical and intentional approach to live has seen them consistently pack out rooms, support exciting touring artists, and earn spots at regional festivals.

Now, alright (okay) are gearing up for the release of their long awaited debut EP, decent (fine), set to drop in November 2025. This record encapsulates the band’s journey so far – equal parts melody and mayhem, catharsis and chaos.

It’s a culmination of years spent honing their craft, navigating the highs and lows of independent artistry, and channeling it all into a collection of songs that demand to be heard.

“A fulsome evocation of Fela Kuti’s continually inspiring blend of The J.B.’s-style jazz-funk horns lashed to a relentless mix of funky highlife and Yoruba, all delivered with aplomb….” – Time Out London

London Afrobeat Collective are a tight-knit family of musicians from around the world, living in London and united by a love of afrobeat and a desire to take original music to new places.

This 8-strong collective from England, Italy, France, Congo, Argentina and New Zealand combine traditional afrobeat and hi-life with funk, jazz, Latin and dub to deliver party music born of their truly global DNA.

A regular hit on the UK and Europe touring circuit and celebrated for their raucous energy, heavy dance grooves and conscious lyrics, the band has rocked major stages from Glastonbury Festival (UK) to the Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, via Imagina Funk (Spain), Fusion Festival (Germany), Cully Jazz (Switzerland), Tempo Latino (France), Earth Garden (Malta) and many more.

Taking inspiration from afrobeat father Fela Kuti as well as such artists as Ebo Taylor, Parliament Funkadelic and Havana d’Primera, LAC’s original music and multi-lingual performances in English, Spanish, Lingala and French have won them admirers across Europe.

Their fourth studio album Esengo (Canopy Records – release date 14 February 2024), which means Joy in Lingala includes the new single Topesa Esengo Na Motema (Let Us Give Joy To The Heart) with a remix by Bosq.

“Juanita Euka’s sinuously smooth vocals lead the way and the funk & soul horns synchronise perfectly with the flawless rhythm section and blissful guitars” – Simon Cross, Songlines Magazine, March 24

“In a genre short of female stars, vocalist Juanita Euka is a real find” – Mojo Magazine March 24

“…not only pays homage to the spirit of Fela Kuti but also embraces a bold approach to crafting original music that transcends traditional genre boundaries” – Jazziz.com March 24

“It has an energy and joie de vivre that would make even the greatest curmudgeon want to break into a smile and skip” Andrew Neal, Silentradio.com , Feb 24

//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\

Established in 2019, Whingefest was a daft idea born in The Ferret beer garden late one night. And here it is: The 10th one!

Featuring another amazing lineup:

JEANIE & THE WHITE BOYS:

Jeanie and The White Boys is an unapologetically bold and irreverent music project born from the underground queer art scene and fuelled by raw energy, biting satire, and a deep love for rock and roll. Fronted by Jeanie, a charismatic and rebellious creative force, the band blends punk ethos with theatrical performance, creating a sound that’s as subversive as it is addictive.

Jeanie, a filmmaker and performance artist turned musician, brings her knack for storytelling and visual artistry to the band’s identity. Collaborating with seasoned musicians Dom (Toy) and Bleu (Warmduscher), Jeanie and The White Boys deliver high-energy anthems that tackle themes of societal absurdities, personal pain, and the messy beauty of life.

With their incendiary debut single making waves and an upcoming release, Queen Bee, on the horizon, the band is rapidly gaining a reputation for their electrifying live performances and razor-sharp commentary. Jeanie and The White Boys are not just a band—they’re a movement, rallying against apathy and inspiring a new wave of creative rebellion.

SLY & THE FAMILY DRONE:

Working with a sound palette of scronked electronics, bulging noise blasts, wailing sax & Kalashnikov drums, the band digs deeper than ever to find increasingly potent sonic pockets.

Like many classic noise bands before them, Sly & The Family Drone choose to play on the floor of their venues whenever they can. There’s a different "atmosphere, environment and dynamic" when they’re up close to people and surrounded by amplifiers.

HAWK OWL:

Neurotic Northern millennials staring the reaper in the face. A fuzzy blend of psych, dream pop and space rock, featuring former members of Tero Kulero.

SHINDIG:

These North East DIY punks played at Whinge’s album launch at The Rat & Pigeon, Manchester & we’ve been looking for an excuse to bring them to Preston since they blew the bloody doors off.

BOI TOI:

Synth and punk-driven 5 piece, playing songs about Guinness and love and the Northern Rail prices.

8-B1Tch:

Chiptune maestro 8-B1Tch bends circuits and minds, as his tiny machines take us on a cosmic voyage. Also featuring the glorious Golden B’stard on the drums (TBC).

WHINGE:

Aaaaaand, don't forget your cordial hosts & “expert curators”: Whinge.

A meeting of four jaded old friends from the underbelly of the north-west music scene, Whinge began as a cathartic outlet and an attempt to press pause on the unrelenting passage of time.

Fuelled by nihilism and a playful eye for self-deprecation, one pub conversation too many saw their myriad of musical backgrounds meet their unpredictable approach to life, with the end result: ‘Whinge'. Like the best bands; more a gang than a group.

Post-punk & Psych informed DIY garage-rock played with gay abandon, Whinge slam together influences from the Mondays to the Sabbath, ESG to LCD, Genesis to the Rapture.

Over to Crackedankles Records:

"We knew the members of Whinge by sight from our local venue The Ferret where, it would seem, at least one of Whinge was in at any given time. Their debut gig was a kaleidoscope of conflict and charm that was intimidating and hilarious in equal measures. But underneath the chaos were really memorable, witty and well crafted songs portraying a unique palette of influences and the best front person we'd seen in years."

We Came From Wolves are an alternative rock band from Perth, Scotland, known for their emotionally charged songwriting, melodic riffs, and powerful live performances. Blending elements of emo, post-rock, and alt-rock, their sound draws comparisons to the likes of Brand New, Finch, and Biffy Clyro.
Fronted by singer and guitarist Kyle Burgess, the band formed in the early 2010s and quickly built a reputation through relentless touring, playing over six UK tours, two European runs, and major venues like King Tut’s, Oran Mor, and the O₂ ABC. Their debut EP Cope gained national attention with airplay on BBC Radio 1, and their follow-up EP Paradise Place earned praise from outlets like Rock Sound and XFM. In 2015, they released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, produced by Bruce Rintoul, and went on to win the Scottish Alternative Music Award for Best Rock/Alternative Act.

Known for tackling raw themes such as grief, fear, and vulnerability with sincerity, We Came From Wolves have solidified themselves as one of Scotland’s most heartfelt and dynamic alternative rock acts.

Fragile Animals are a dreamy indie-rock and shoegaze band from the Brisbane/Sunshine Coast area of Australia, known for their lush, melancholic sound and emotionally immersive songwriting. Described as “your gloomy pals,” their music blends shimmering guitar textures, layered soundscapes, and introspective lyrics that explore themes of longing and emotional distance.

Fronted by vocalist and bassist Victoria Jenkins, alongside guitarist Daniel Parkinson, guitarist Melinda Huurdeman, and drummer Dylan Stewart, the band rose to prominence as a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist and built a strong reputation through their intense live shows, including performances at Big Pineapple Festival and support slots for acts like Violent Soho, Cub Sport, Dune Rats, and Flyying Colours.

With poetic reflections, rich production, and an atmosphere reminiscent of Wolf Alice and Phoebe Bridgers, Fragile Animals continue to craft music that feels both intimate and expansive.

Collectors. are an indie band hailing from Preston, UK, known for their emotive, guitar-driven compositions and intimate live performances. They've recently released singles like “Spectre” and “I Don’t Want to Leave,” showcasing their knack for melodic hooks and heartfelt lyricism. Their music videos, created in collaboration with filmmakers like lokifilms7, reflect a cinematic sensibility and artistic ambition.

With a growing presence both online and on stage, Collectors are steadily building momentum through authentic connection with their audience and a clear vision for their sound. Emerging from the vibrant Preston music scene, they’re carving out a niche with their indie-pop/rock fusion and emotionally resonant songwriting; an exciting new voice worth keeping an eye on.

KIWI - Indie rock from the North-West of England. Probably the best band you’ve never heard of. 🥝

HIGHWAYVES (HWYVES) are an artistic collective that have crafted a sound that races from spacious to suffocating, combining the dark aggression of grunge with dreamlike washes reminiscent of shoe-gaze. Each piece is punctuated with intimate, poetic lyrics that are as personal as they are universal. HIGHWAYVES are unashamedly earnest, laying bare their deepest emotions for all to join in collective catharsis.

HIGHWAYVES take an obsessive approach to their art; writing, recording and producing their own music as well as writing, directing and editing their videos. Their uncompromising approach is the key to creating a deep connection with their audience.

STIL LIFE - Alternative five-piece band from North West England, crafting dreamy, melodic soundscapes with a blend of guitars and synthesisers.

After nearly three decades going strong. The Hyperjax are returning to Preston at The Ferret launching their brand new sixth studio album 'Scars on the horizon'

Expect a mixture of old and new songs, with whole lot of energy driven Rockabilly/Punk Rock and Psychobilly delivered by the band AND audience.

The Bitter Lemons:

Garage rock 'n' roll from Birmingham UK. As featured in Vintage Rock Magazine and UK Rock and Roll mag!

Not Your Daddy's Rockabilly! 🍋

The Pink Diamond Revue:

“Spangly gold late 1950s LSD-inspired tripadelica” D S Audio

The Pink Diamond Revue are a battle between humanity and something more synthetic. Even the trademark ongoing onstage conflict-come-love-affair between guitarist Tim Lane and the mannequin Acid Dol takes on a sinister edge as he nudges her askew with his guitar or adjusts her shades between tracks. Musically and visually too The Pink Diamond Revue are a constant war between a golden age of American rock’n’roll and a dark, dystopian future. “We’re not a rock and roll band” intones the narrative over the duo’s signature tune. No, they’re something far more potent: a simply magnificent spectacle – all militant, monolithic beats, serrated acid-surf guitars, snatches of arcane narrative and sirens. Lane himself often resembles a Teddy Boy re-imagined by a malevolent future AI and you can imagine this music acting as the perfect backdrop to apocalyptic cinema.

QUJAKU:

Formed in 2013, QUJAKU are a Japanese experimental band based in Hamamatsu. Their dark, heavy psychedelia is replete with rich distortion and feedback creating a unique decadent ambience.

The apocalyptic sound they muster fuels an urge to release from the everyday to discover an ephemeral beauty behind the fierceness. The delicate yet strong leading voice, filled with destructive guitar, repetitive rhythmic percussion, and deep, bellowing bass combine to create Qujaku's unique sound atmosphere to preoccupy the mind and enhance the experience.

KAVUS TORABI:

Kavus Torabi is a British/ Iranian composer, multi-instrumentalist, performer, author, artist, broadcaster and DJ. His largely autobiographical solo work marries the human with the celestial. Since 2016 he has fronted legendary psychedelic band Gong with whom he is principal songwriter. He is a member of the semi-modular experimental/psychedelic trio The Utopia Strong. He is a former guitarist of British cult band, Cardiacs and avant rock instrumentalists Guapo. As part of a a DJ duo with Steve Davis, he has performed festivals throughout the UK, recently performing at Wembley Stadium between bands for Blur’s comeback performance. In 2021 White Rabbit published Medical Grade Music, his memoir with Steve Davis which was Shindig’s music book of the year. In April 2024 his commissioned piece ‘Lion Of The Lord’s Elect’ made its debut at Roadburn Festival, NE.

THE BIG THEM:

Made up of musicians from some of our favourite underground bands, The Big Them is the brainchild of Jack and Jonny, who you’ll know better as two thirds of the finest noise makers out of Widnes: Mums. The duo have been experimenting with guitar sounds for a little while now, but for this latest project the idea was simple – get a bunch of mates together and jam some big, stinking riffs.

For this current incarnation of the band, Jack and Jonny roped in previous Mums drummer and total power-house Lew back behind the kit, alongside Alex from Northwich indie-punks Careering and Ed from Leeds premier scuzz lords Irk. The result is exactly what you’d expect; hypnotic, sludgy riffs that centre around a tirade of guitar noise and gargantuan drums.

DLINA VOLNY

Minsk, Belarus
Italians Do It Better Records
Bandcamp
Facebook

Dlina Volny translates into the English word “Wavelength.” Their name is a homage to their fascination with sine waves & the physics of sound. The Belarusian trio's sophomore album Dazed is a self-proclaimed "Love Thriller". Mixed by Dean Hurley, frequent David Lynch collaborator & producer, the record is gorgeous. Elegant synthesis is flanked by the brut low end of the rhythm section. The instruments set the stage for contralto vocals that hover like a warm fog on a chilly night. Hurley is also the engineer who brought us Jorja Chalmers' "Midnight Train" earlier this year, as well as remixes for Italians Do It Better flagship artists Desire & Chromatics.

On Dazed, Masha Zinevitch's voice wails & pivots between Ales Shishlo’s assault of morse-code arpeggios & icy sheets of Vad Mikutski’s guitars. Dlina Volny's music vaporizes on the event horizon where Eastern European Post-Punk collides with Western Synthwave. The album balances mystical narratives & dreamlike fantasies sourced deep in the trio's subconscious. Walking the tightrope that separates pain & euphoria, the lyrics wrestle with polarity. Anxiety vs passion, & hope vs the deep despair that surrounds negative space.

Aesthetically, Dazed encompasses 1980s Estrada Pop & the 1970s brutalist architecture that pierces the Minsk sky. “When it’s sunny here, it looks like a Soviet fairytale come true. On a dark day, it looks like dystopia.”

Having recently released their new single ‘In Between’, Dlina Volny are set to add yet another flawless release to an already pristine and industry respected discography. The band remark on the single; “In Between tells a story of one’s awakening and realisation. It delves into the desire to share newly discovered realities and meanings, inviting others to cross over to the other side and experience a transformed perspective." The single, out via Italians Do It Better, can be heard here: https://youtu.be/FqsCKDCF8sk?si=Sh3qR9uCXrW1fjd1

Dlina Volny have a rich touring history and have performed alongside artists such as LEBANON HANOVER,  MOLCHAT DOMA, KEDR LIVANSKIY, GENTS, SUPER BESSE, to name but a few. They also participated in European festivals, such as POP KULTUR (online), IKEA FESTIVAL (Online), GRAUZONE FESTIVAL (NL), BUDAPEST SHOWCASE HUB, POP MESSE Festival, LOFTAS FEST / WHAT'S NEXT In MUSIC (LT), POSTCOSMOS X (LT), and many more.

James Walsh of Starsailor and Ben Ottewell of Gomez will share the stage for a powerful evening of live music. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see these iconic artists perform side by side.

James Walsh - Starsailor frontman and solo artist - first found success as the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist with multi-platinum indie-rock band Starsailor.  While known for iconic hits like Good Souls and Alcoholic, James has also carved out a powerful solo career, releasing acclaimed albums including Turning Point (2014), Tiger on the Bridge (2019), and Small Illusions (2021).

James has a prolific back catalogue, and his latest EP ‘Renewal’ offers the trademarks of James’ all-encompassing signature sound - beautifully-crafted songs, tender balladry, gorgeous melodies and candid lyricism which transports the listener into another dimension thanks to his captivating and endearing delivery.

Ben Ottewell is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist best known as a founding member of the critically acclaimed British band Gomez. Ottewell’s distinctive baritone voice and blues-inspired guitar work became central to Gomez’s unique sound.

Gomez formed in the late 1990s, quickly gaining attention for their eclectic style, which blended blues, rock, folk, and indie influences. Gomez’s 1998 debut album, Bring It On, was a breakout success, winning the prestigious Mercury Prize and propelling the band to international recognition.

Throughout Gomez's career, Ottewell's soulful voice and introspective lyrics resonated with fans, earning him a dedicated following. His solo career saw him exploring a more stripped-down acoustic sound, showcasing his raw talent and emotive storytelling. Ben is well known for his unmistakable voice and talent for blistering and inspired guitar solos.

And as GQ Magazine once wrote and anyone listening can attest, "[his] voice is not of this world.”

"And then there’s this guy named Bob Log, you ever heard of him? He’s this little kid — nobody ever knows how old he is — wears a motorcycle helmet and he has a microphone inside of it and he puts the glass over the front so you can’t see his face, and plays slide guitar. It’s just the loudest, strangest stuff you’ve ever heard. You don’t understand one word he’s saying. I like people who glue macaroni on to a piece of cardboard and paint it gold. That’s what I aspire to basically.” - Tom Waits

Bob Log III, Fat Possum recording artist and one man band crown prince of punk blues from Tuscon, Arizona. Witnessing Bob Log live is an unmissable and unforgettable experience. By rights he should be a punk blues stadium super star.

He takes to the stage with his face masked in a crash helmet with a black visor and a telephone wired in it for a mic and wearing a blue jump suit. Bob then unleashes a torrent of hardcore Mississippi Delta blues, hip hop beats and punk rock. The crash helmet telephone distorts the vocals and his hands, arms, legs and feet become a blur of jump suit clad limbs as he plays slide, triggers drum machines and drums with his feet simultaneously.

”When Bob Log III was a child, he lost his left hand in a boating accident. It was soon replaced with a monkey paw, and a new guitar style was born. 'It's my own personal style, see,' Log says, 'the paw moves much quicker than a normal hand, so my real hand has to flop around a lot to compensate.'"

In fact Bob Log III was born in Tucson, Arizona and is a virtuoso slide player who plays with extremely thick strings tuned very loose that gives him his unique “floppy” sound. Growing up, Log listened to artists such as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and AC/DC, later commenting that "That's what rock'n'roll is to me. You take a guitar, turn it up and have a good time… everyone else can go listen to Pearl Jam if they want to.”

Bob Log got his first guitar at the age of 11, and by the age of 16 he had become smitten with Delta Blues, modelling his slide guitar style on that of Mississippi Fred McDowell. Log began his music career recording with Mondo Guano, a four-piece metal-blues band based in Arizona. Upon leaving Mondo Guano, Log went on to perform as one-half of seminal early Delta punk blues duo Doo Rag.

Bob Log III was born when Bob was in the middle of a US tour with Doo Rag and his drummer quit. With necessity, ever the mother of invention, Bob donned a helmet he had picked up in a thrift store, took to the stage and kicked his guitar case for percussion and thus the legend of Bob Log was born.  Bob Log eventually found his spiritual home on maverick Mississippi blues label Fat Possum in 1998 and released a trio of classic records: School Bus, Trike and Log Bomb.

In this current world of homogenised and mass marketed music, we need true mavericks like Bob Log III more than ever.

Since exploding onto the scene, The Meffs have built up a reputation as purveyors of frantic punk rock and a rowdy must-see live sensation.

Expect direct messages over a barrage of hard-hitting riffs that get stuck in your head for DAYS.

October 2022 saw the band's Frank Turner produced debut EPs released on Fat Mike's (NOFX) fresh label, Bottles to the Ground. Broken Britain PT.I & PT.II gained significant interest, leading to two sellout headline tours across the UK and a subsequent sold out European run in February 2024.

After a huge year in 2023 and early 2024 playing the likes of Download Festival and the final NOFX tour, The Meffs were set to reach new heights as the year progressed. 2024 saw The Meffs nominated at the Heavy Music Awards, it saw the band join forces with Music Venue Trust as patrons and it saw them join Kings of Leon at British Summer Time. Yes, you read that right! In great company, The Meffs' set at Rebellion Festival 2024 was voted the fifth most anticipated set at the festival and judging by the reviews, the band did not disappoint.

As they prepare for a UK run with Alice Cooper and an EU run with Frank Turner later this year, one of the most talked-about up-and-coming bands in the scene prepares for the release of their new album, WHAT A LIFE, out September 13th.

“Sounding fantastic. Pulling no punches as ever” – John Kennedy, Radio X

“Packing a severe punch for a two-piece, and clearly taking a lead from the early 80s anarcho scene” – Vive Le Rock

Crime & the City Solution are an Australian rock band formed in late 1977 by singer-songwriter and mainstay Simon Bonney. They disbanded in 1979 leaving only bootleg recordings and demos. In late 1983, Bonney travelled to London and in 1985 he formed a new version of the group in the U.K. which included members of Nick Cave’s recently disbanded The Birthday Party; later they transferred to Berlin, where they issued four albums – Room of Lights (1986), Shine (1988), The Bride Ship (1989) and Paradise Discotheque (1990) – before disbanding again in 1991. In 2012, Bonney reformed the band in Detroit with two veterans of its Berlin era and a handful of new members.

Crime & The City Solution have a long history of recruiting songwriting heavyweights including Rowland S. Howard (The Birthday Party) and Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) and the band now reaches its sixth incantation with members Bronwyn Adams (violin and vocals), Josh Murphy (guitar), having teamed up with lead mastermind Simon Bonney to release new music via the revered Mute Records.

The Crime acoustic dates are, explains Bonney “born of a want to play the songs as they were first written - in a lounge room on an acoustic guitar - to create an intimate atmosphere that captures the simple joy of friends playing together for friends, unmediated by technology.”

Bonney has said, “we will be opening with a selection of acoustic renderings and then turning up to 11 and closing out the set with a full-throttle electric set of classic Crime controlled chaos.”

HEAVY LUNGS

Heavy Lungs bring raw, loud and uncompromising energy to their shows taking influence from the rowdy and liberating gigs of the 80s and 90s. Rising brutally fast from the get-go, they have shared stages with comrades IDLES, The Oh Sees, METZ, JOHN and more.

The band are now touring their explosive, furiously fun and unique brand of punk extensively across the UK and Europe. Fresh off the back of their 2023 critically acclaimed debut album 'All Gas No Brakes' released with Alcopop! records, they have gone on to receive significant attention from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Iggy Pop. Heavy Lungs is a rock'n'roll sandwich you didn't know you needed, but now it's in your lunchbox every day.

Tinnitus or a relentless earworm for days to come, a Heavy Lungs show is one to remember.

'A real Whammerbanger!'  - IGGY POP

'Biting powerful punk that seeing frontman Danny Nedelko snarling' - DIY

'Chaotic brilliance, made up of tempestuous distortion and hellish wails' - Stereoboard

'Their music taps the same vital energy as the pioneering post-punk of Joy Division, rambunctious squall of Iceage, and uncompromising attitude of IDLES' – Bristol In Stereo

'Imagine going toe to toe with Minor Threat and early Black Flag, this is raw, uncompromising punk rock.' - HMV

Originating from Riverside, California, the BellRays have been mixing punk, rock and soul with the unique authenticity that has made them who they are today. “We created a band and music based on what we love.” – explain Lisa Kekaula and Robert Vennum, the founding members of The BellRays. The tradition that the band continued over the last thirty years inspired them to infuse their influences. It’s in their DNA. The sound can be described by one simple formula: Emotion + energy = excitement. Their latest album, Heavy Steady Go! strictly follows this rule but also, provides new coloring and shades to the well-beloved formula. “We’ve heard ourselves described by some variation as ‘Tina Turner fronting AC/DC’ or ‘Motorhead meets Aretha Franklin’ which comes with an expectation to be that every time.” – explains Robert Vennum. “We are expected to be something that does not exist.”

According to Lisa Kekaula: “We stand apart and reactions like ‘not punk enough’, ‘not rock enough’, and ‘THAT’S not soul’ only fuel us more. We revel in our fearlessness to share what’s in our heads and hearts whether it’s understood or not. The most important thing is that we believe what we write and what we play. Our songwriting comes from a place that’s really deep and wide and in Heavy Steady Go! We realized that what we had created came from the impact point of this crater.”

Heavy Steady Go! is described by the two as ‘a festival in album form’ and ‘powerfully concentrated rock and roll’. Robert and Lisa explain that with these songs “we pay homage to Tom Petty, Bon Scott, Fleetwood Mac, Howlin’ Wolf, Cheap Trick, Betty Davis, and dozens of others that inspired this album. We wrote and crafted these songs looking at ourselves through the lens of the iconic sounds we heard growing up.”

🗓️Friday 10th October

📍The Ferret, Preston

TICKETS: https://www.skiddle.com/e/41099616

Bilk are an exciting rock and roll band hailing from Chelmsford, Essex. Fusing elements of rock and roll, punk, indie and rap, Bilk’s style can never be pigeon holed. Fronted by charismatic lead singer and guitarist Sol Abrahams and backed by Luke Hare on bass guitar and Harry Gray on drums, Bilk’s music speaks to the youth of today with relatable songs about partying, love, growing up and life in modern Britain in general amongst other things.

To buy tickets for this event please visit our events page: MVT presents: Bilk tickets from Skiddle .

The MVT Presents Bilk tour is the first to be funded by the Liveline Fund which was created by MVT and live music advocates Save Our Scene (SOS) to distribute funding directly to grassroots venues, artists and promoters with financial support raised by contributions from arena and stadium ticket sales. Artists including Sam Fender, Katy Perry, Coldplay, and Enter Shikari were early adopters of the Grassroots Levy and have enabled Liveline to begin fuelling the future of UK grassroots music.

The tour will enable the Essex-born band to do a much longer tour than usual, returning to some of the venues that supported them early in their career as well as towns and cities they would not have been able to otherwise. In 2024, MVT revealed that just 12 locations, all of them major cities, remained as primary and secondary touring circuit stops, acting as regular hosts to grassroots tours.

Rebecca Walker, Live Projects (MVT), said “For the last four years MVT has been building relationships and partnerships through our Revive Live and United by Music projects to explore how best to deliver economically viable, sustainable, touring activity. Working with grassroots artists, agents, managers, promoters, and venues, we are practically demonstrating the positive impact that contributions from arena and stadium ticket levies can have for the Grassroots Sector when we act collaboratively.”

Speaking about the tour Bilk’s lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Sol Abrahams said “This tour is obviously gonna be chaos. We’ve been wanting to do a tour of grassroots venues for a while as we’ve seen a lot of these places keep closing down and it ain’t good for music.

“Everyone deserves a chance to grow and get seen by people if the music is good and the grassroots venues are instrumental in that for upcoming bands and artists. When we were coming up as a band, those are the places we’d play week in and week out. With small venues closing it’s going to be harder for good, organic music made by musicians from normal backgrounds to get out there and leave upcoming artists hopelessly banking on a viral TikTok for exposure or being an industry plant. We need real life, we need real energy, real connection, in the flesh, in person. That’s what it’s about. That’s why we’re doing this. It’s gonna be sweaty, intimate and a good time so to our fans, we’ll see you there”

The Liveline Fund is committed to delivering the best new and emerging live music back into the UK’s towns and cities. Working with artists, venues, and promoters, Liveline is building models of best practice to revive live music in communities right across the country.

George Fleming, founder of Save Our Scene, said: “This is exactly what The Liveline Fund was created for - to bring ambitious, nationwide tours back to life. Once a staple of the live music scene, these kinds of 20 date runs have become almost impossible due to soaring costs. Liveline is here to change that — fuelling artists, venues and promoters across the country, especially in places that have been overlooked for too long.”

SMOTE:

‘Clyppan’ is an Old English verb meaning “to embrace” or “to clasp.” It also referred to an ancient ritual in which people gathered in a circle, singing together around a sacred shrine. It’s a fitting title for the latest release from Newcastle’s Smote – a visceral document of the band’s electrifying live set, captured within the walls of London’s Bear Bites Horse recording studio.

Following the release of their acclaimed 2024 album ‘A Grand Stream’, Smote embarked on an intensive tour schedule, refining their live performance along the way into something transcendental – a full-spectrum psychic voyage. Anyone who caught them at Supernormal, Supersonic, or this year’s Roadburn Festival can attest: Smote are an unforgettable sonic presence, a near religious experience.

Recognising the urgency and potency of the band’s current live form, Rocket Recordings encouraged Smote’s founder and sonic architect Dan Foggin to document their live set in the studio. It was a sound too powerful to be left undocumented – it was something that needed to be clasped for future generations.

On January 22, 2025 – the day before their thunderous performance at London’s ICA alongside labelmates Teeth Of The Sea – the four members of Smote entered Bear Bites Horse studio. With producer Wayne Adams at the controls, they laid down a live set brimming with raw, elemental power.

What emerged is ‘Clyppan’ – four drone-and-repetition driven incantations, distilled from the primal essence of Smote’s sound. These tracks channel something ancient and urgent, summoning spirits and revelations in their wake. It’s music as ritual, as invocation – pure aural sorcery.

So gather together. Form a circle. Join hands. And embrace the ecstatic, untamed energy of Smote in their most untethered and primal form.

PRIMITIVE KNOT:

Songs for an age of weaponised mirrors which endlessly reflect our inner darkness. An age where we are free to own our hate and, in turn, to be pwned by a higher hate. We will never be fooled again. Because our actions will bring about our destruction.

“Body Horror deal in a hard electro based type of rhythmical post punk, a type of savage New Order soundtrack overlayed by an unrepentant snarl” - Steve Lamacq BBC Radio 6

To buy tickets for this event please visit our events page: Body Horror tickets from Skiddle .

Ticket sales powered by Skiddle

Body Horror met by chance when three members happened to move into the same Tottenham warehouse in 2016. Bonded by a passion for not sleeping and getting weird at techno parties, the post-punk songs they’d been writing gradually took more and more influence from raves. Before long they’d picked up a drum machine and a couple of synths and were pairing industrial beats and sequenced synths with sharp guitars, demented themes and feral vocal hooks. Body Horror found themselves at a crossroad between The Prodigy and The Birthday Party, and having released a few singles we’ll soon see their first proper release with a self-titled EP in 2025.

As can be heard in their last single Goodboy, Gethyn Thomas’s vocal style has moved more towards a rapping style; the vocalist’s Welsh dialect coming out in the verses as the lyrics pop through with a much faster, more rhythmical flow. That’s an approach he aims to lean further into with the upcoming EP; Thomas saying “All the tracks are written by building the rhythm and beats first, front and centre. So it just felt natural for the vocals to move in that direction. I wasn’t consciously trying to rap, it just became similar to rapping because I was enjoying creating the flows so much”.

This melding of the aforementioned Post-Punk influences, with Techno-inspired beats and the rap-adjacent lyrical style hits hard and feels as fresh as anything else around right now, the band having formed a cult-following around London for their pumping live shows.

The Real People, pioneers of the 90's Brit pop movement, were formed by Tony and Chris Griffiths in 1988.

Signed to CBS in Dec 1989 they released their eponymous debut album including the singles Window Pane, Open Up Your Mind and The Truth in 1991.

The band then embarked on a series of successful British, European, American and Japanese tours, also appearing at Glastonbury and supporting major artists such as The Pixies, David Bowie and Inspiral Carpets to name a few.

The Realies (as they are known to their fans) then recorded their second album Marshmallow Lane with the help of legendary producer Jimmy Miller (Rolling Stones etc). This album provided the Top 40 single 'Believer'.

Whilst touring with Inspiral Carpets, Chris and Tony took the then Inspirals roadie Noel Gallagher under their wing, along with his brother Liam and the rest of Oasis. The Real People invited Oasis into their studio to develop and record the new band, resulting in the now famous Live Demonstration Tape which subsequently secured them a major deal with Alan McGee and Creation Records. Once signed by Creation, Chris and Tony were instrumental in the recording of Oasis' first single 'Supersonic', with Tony providing the backing vocals. Chris also co-wrote the B-side to 'Roll With It' entitled 'Rockin' Chair' which helped set Oasis on the path to becoming world wide stars and the biggest band of the past 30 years. The Real People also inspired several other Oasis songs such as 'Columbia' and 'Don't Go Away'.

The Liverpool brothers who set Oasis on course for stardom (BBC): https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp9rmxlve9ko

Around this time Chris and Tony continued writing and developing other artists - including writing a Top 10 single for Cher.

In 1996 The Real People signed to MGL Records and released their third album 'What's On The Outside' which included the singles 'Rolling Stone', 'Rayners Lane' and 'People In The Telly'. The band also embarked on tours including numerous tours with their good friends Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller and Simple Minds.

The Real People continued writing and touring for the next few years resulting in their now cult following and new albums 'Think Positive' and 'Monday Morning Breakdown'.

If you haven't heard The Realies before, you really should. But don't take our word for it - please read this Jon Robb article for Louder Than War setting out why The Real People are one of the most respected and influential bands of the past 35 years: https://louderthanwar.com/the-real-people-live-review

Brought up on a diet of The Killers, Paolo Nutini and Stereophonics, frontman and principal songwriter Jack formed a band with his best mate Owen in the sleepy town of Ross-on-Wye. The two friends met drummer Jake and bass player Jacob whilst at university, which cemented the four-piece that is now selling out venues across the UK.

With support from BBC Radio 1, Pentire completed a landmark sold-out UK tour in early 2024, including a full house for their hometown show at the infamous 'Thekla'.

The Primevals

Stewart Lee has commissioned Glasgow's garage punk veterans to write a suitably haunting song for his new stand-up show 'Stewart Lee Vs The Man Wulf', which is currently on a long U.K tour. The band formed in 1983. Influenced by the MC5, The Stooges, Captain Beefheart, Pharoah Sanders, The Gun Club, The Cramps etc etc , and 1960s American garage rock, they continue to improve with age, like a fine single malt, and remain a resiliently brilliant live act.

The single features the A side "I'm The Man-Wulf" with an edited long version on the flip. The Primevals have always been a lot more than a bang it out garage rock band. Sure, they hit hard but behind the noise (of which there is a lot) is a fine and dare we say it cultured understanding of all the other great love sounds-of funk, soul, free jazz and a plain goddam groove!!

The Primevals love playing the Ferret and Tuff LIfe Boogie will keep bringing them back until everyone gets the message that this is an elite band!

https://primevals.bandcamp.com/

The Lotts

Warrington’s garage rock upstarts The Lotts have been going for a few years now, but look set to make more of an impact this year. After being chosen by Louder than War as one of their 25 New Bands for 2025, they have set up some American dates in March and are also headlining the respected Hipsville Garage Rock weekender in Margate in May.
The Lotts’ latest single “Stop and Think it Over” is a Compulsive Gamblers cover, which underscores their great taste and appreciation for 60’s influenced driving beat music. If you like Reigning Sound, Ty Segall or classic line-up period Oh Sees, make sure you turn up early and give this great band your support.

Classic rock nostalgia, punk explosions, and modern references, in a perfect balance between the alt '00s and the raw rock power of the '70s, is the recipe for one of the most high-energy acts you will catch live nowadays, which explains why they are on a steady upward trajectory in the years of their existence.

Capturing the essence of diverse rock influences, from the hyper-energetic The Stooges to the trashy-glam of the New York Dolls and the songwriting mastermind of The Replacements, the group, established in late 2020, took to the studio to show off their full potential and distinctive sound.

It wasn't long before gained serious traction in the alternative music scene, with their first singles being selected for two editorial Spotify playlists, which led them to their first national tour and electrifying sold-out shows, highlighting their aptly-named “Rock & Roll extravaganza” gigs as their greatest strength.

Rooted in uncompromising authenticity, Dismiss serve as a beacon for relatable self-expression and the obliteration of senseless stereotyping with their sharp Rock & Roll edge.

The Ferret | Preston

Doors 7PM

Preston's Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM) returns to The Ferret this Tuesday, 24th June

Slots are up to 20 minutes. Some pre-booked slots have gone but we do have a few left - so email emompreston@gmail.com to grab one. Additional walk-in slots will be available on the night. First come first served.

This is an open stage night for electronic and experimental musicians, aimed at giving local artists a supportive space in which to play live and experiment. Open to all forms of electronic/experimental music including: ambient, chiptune, drone, drum & bass, dub, electronica, electropop, experimental hip-hop, field recordings, glitch, house, industrial, looping, noise, soundscape, synthwave, techno, trance & more!

Get out of your home studio or bedroom, and come out to a fun, supportive night with other enthusiastic tech heads, dabblers and music fans. You don’t need to be an established artist with a full repertoire. This is for anyone who wants to try their hand at playing live in a safe, motivating environment.

Computers, digital boxes, DJ controllers, drum machines, gadgets, groove boxes, keyboard synths, loop stations, modular synths, phone apps, samplers, sequencers… and everything in between. All welcome!

Come out and meet other music makers, producers and creative types from all walks of music making. There should be plenty of time to talk gear, production techniques and a whole range of inspiring ideas.

The event will run from roughly 7pm-11.00pm with wiggle room depending on interest.

Slots are up to 20 minutes. Some pre-booked slots have gone but we do have a few left - so email emompreston@gmail.com to grab one. Additional walk-in slots will be available on the night. First come first served.

Take to The Ferret stage with full live-music PA & sound engineer. We will have a table for you to setup on, and another one to the side, for the next performer to prep their gear. In order for the event to run smoothly, we ask that you prepare a mono or stereo mix of your setup before handing your outputs over to us; we will not be able to mix your outputs for you in the given time. Vocal mics & mic stands available.

Sorry - no acoustic guitars – unless they are being used to generate soundscapes or some other style of music in keeping with the night (e.g. through pedals, FX units etc.)

Additionally, feel free to bring a USB stick containing visuals you'd like to be projected during your set.

Entrance is FREE for both performers and spectators, so gather your friends and fellow electronic music enthusiasts to join us for an incredible night of creativity and musical exploration!

Holy Scum. The name itself is a visceral snarl, perfectly capturing the raw, feedback-laden sludge and improvisational rock that the band unleashes. Since their debut, Holy Scum has made waves at major festivals like Le Guess Who? and Roadburn, cementing their place in the music scene.

Originally hailing from Manchester, Holy Scum features guitarist Peter J Taylor (formerly of Action Beat), GNOD co-founder Chris Haslam on bass, Jon Perry (also of GNOD and Shuck) on drums, and Mike Mare, one half of the legendary hip-hop duo Dälek, on vocals, synth, and soundscapes. The band has recently welcomed a new guitarist, Al Wilson (GNOD, Ghold, Shuck), adding fresh energy to their lineup. Together, they create a thunderous cacophony of synapse-mangling noise that cuts through the chaos.

Looking ahead, Holy Scum is gearing up to release their eagerly awaited second album, All We Have Is Never, on Rocket Recordings in 2025. This album, recorded over seven days in the remote wilderness of Scotland, promises to build on the raw power and collaborative spirit of their debut, delivering a monumental noise rock experience.

Holy Scum embodies the power of collaboration, a primal scream in response to a world in disarray. They confront chaos head-on, meeting fire with fire in their live shows.

THE BEAR AROUND YOUR NECK

The Bear Around Your Neck are A psychedelic grunge garage rock two piece hailing from Manchester. Surreal, ethereal, pulsating and sometimes demonic. Heavy Guitar picking and fuzz riffs drenched in melodic vocals, carried on tessellating drums. Fronted by Nathaniel Scott guitar/vocals and Jay Temple on drums. For fans of Satan.

MULLET MONSTER MAFIA - Emerging from the unlikely surf mecca of Piracicaba, Brazil, Mullet Monster Mafia is a blistering three-piece that fuses instrumental surf rock, punk, and a heavy dose of garage attitude into a sound that crashes harder than a rogue wave. Since forming in 2009, this South American surf-punk trio has carved a cult following across the globe with their raw, high-octane performances and unmistakable horror-B-movie flair.

With a signature sound that channels Dick Dale on steroids, Man or Astro-man? vibes, and an unapologetically DIY ethos, Mullet Monster Mafia delivers a sonic punch that’s both nostalgic and completely unhinged. Their live shows are sweaty, chaotic celebrations of reverb-drenched riffs, skull masks, and surfboard-splitting energy.

Whether you're a surf purist or a punk misfit, Mullet Monster Mafia is your new favorite band — if you can handle the tsunami.

With support from…

Those Fkkkkng Snowflakes - A vibrant clash of left wing punk, noise rock and jazz tinged math, a band formed as a means to scream out the dread and horror faced in these terrible times of our modern society. From the current mess of the UK political system to the intolerance of, well, everything. From race and gender to such simple items as Greggs  releasing a Vegan Sausage Roll, the band are shouting about it backed with a tight unique sound and occasional off kilter humour.

"Deploying 1000 volts through the civility of discourse."

AND…

Hung Out To Dry - A 5-piece metalcholic punk band based in Greater Manchester. Their music combines emotional vocals with catchy riffs and rhythms.

Chiminyo plays all his music live on his drums...

Chiminyo built his own software...

Chiminyo does not play to a backing track...

Chiminyo is not jazz...

Chiminyo's laptop only plays a sound when he hits a drum or pad...

Chiminyo is not a vegan...

Chiminyo's drums control his laptop through triggers...

Chiminyo drinks too much coffee...

Chiminyo made this video to help you understand...

https://youtu.be/-HG_eTnQkB4?si=znqLVxqZYNbY5DFp

Chiminyo is a drummer and producer based in North London who combines the raw, immediate live sound of percussion and the futuristic timbres of his electronic productions to create his own, daring soundworld. Via laboriously self-coded software, each cymbal crash and drum hit triggers a synth or sample, allowing Chiminyo complete control and freeing him of all loops, click-tracks and backing tracks.

As well as his own solo project, Chiminyo performs and records with some of the leading figures of the UK’s music scene, including one of The Ferret’s faves K.O.G, spiritual jazz-leaning outfit Maisha and psychedelic energy bomb Cykada. He has also collaborated and recorded with Gary Bartz, Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings, Theon Cross, and Zara McFarlane.

The up-and-coming musician’s debut EP entitled ‘I Am Chiminyo’ was a visceral introduction to his all-encompassing universe. Described by Clash magazine as “a startingly inventive percussive workout”, the EP flows through a cascade of ethereal arpeggios, thumping basslines, and heavy, dance-inducing beats. Critically-acclaimed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, BBC 1Xtra and Jazz FM, it indirectly earned Chiminyo the Jazz FM Digital Award whilst the track ‘Kandy Lanx’ was nominated for a Worldwide FM Award.

LA FRENCH:

La French is a multi instrumentalist/producer based in Lancashire. Combining his love of hip hop, jazz and electronica he fuses these genres with an ambient warmth.

TEMPORARY BODIES:

Temporary Bodies is the new project from Preston-based artist Mike Warburton (Barium Network / Utopian Mechanics). Based entirely around live, improvised performance - on-the-spot loops are fed through an array of fx pedals to create layers of sonorous strings and pads, swirling ambient textures and melodies that range from the Baroque to the bleak.

Inspired by the characteristics of artists like Grouper, MJ Guider, Silent Servant and Deaf Center amongst many more, Temporary Bodies also uses hypnotic drum loops, orchestral motifs and sparse vocals to build a dense, cathartic experience that guides the listener through themes of loss and longing into a place of quiet optimism.

TABES:

Melodic polyrhythms, anarchic dancing, lyrics about stuff.

The Lovely Eggs:

For the Lancaster-based The Lovely Eggs, being in a band is a way of life. It’s about art. It’s about creativity and expression. It’s about following your own path and doing things your own way.

Holly and David operate on their terms, spewing out music, records, art and television shows before piling in the van and tearing round the country to perform a load of live sold out shows.

The pair have been making music in Lancaster since they were teenagers at the Lancaster Music Co-op, a nonprofit organisation that offers affordable equipment, rehearsal and recording space.

Their wild and wilful independence sets themselves apart from other bands and despite having no management, booking agent, record label or publisher their album “I am Moron” shot to Number One in the Official UK Independent Charts and they continue to sell out shows across the country.

“The Lovely Eggs are not just surviving, they’re thriving” -
The Guardian

“The sound of a band who’ve put their whole lives into their art” - Louder than War

With releases across the world, The Lovely Eggs have played hundreds of gigs around the UK, USA & EU. They have produced 7 albums & recorded more than 10 live sessions for BBC 6 Music & Radio 1.

With observational and often surreal lyrics, The Lovely Eggs have a powerful raw sound that creates the sonic illusion of a band twice their size. They have become known for their ferocious yet joyous live performances.  Operating in a world when true authenticity is hard to find, The Lovely Eggs are one of the most exciting, innovative and genuine bands around. Welcome to their world. Welcome to Eggland.

_______________

British Birds:

Hatched in 2023 via tape loops and cheap nylon stringed guitars, Chorley-based British Birds soar from the depths of psych-tinged melancholy to the heights of disco-doused dystopia and back. From within the precariously soundproofed walls of their inconspicuous makeshift arthouse they meticulously craft their sound; dedicating themselves to the whole craft from recording, producing and releasing their records, to screenprinting their merch.

Ellie’s grab-you-and-don’t-let-you-go basslines, Mikey’s thumping drums which cut like Keith Moon’s poltergeist and Emma’s earwormy synth and sweet n shriek harmonies bolster frontman Bobby’s cathartic vocals and staunchly stylistic guitar which jangles like Harrison’s inner demon. The four-piece have impressed fans around the country and beyond during tour support slots for The Lovely Eggs, Pale Blue Eyes and The Bug Club and their 3 live sessions for BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley.

British Birds were formed in 2023 after the closure of frontman Bobby Mambo’s DIY venue Brock n Broll HQ which hosted acts such as Burger Records’ Boytoy of New York, Salt Lake City’s Max Pain & The Groovies, Castrovalva of Leeds, Manchester-based Fruit Tones, and Hannes Ferm from Stockholm. Bobby proceeded to piece together his new space with screen printing facilities and a recording studio which is largely built around his love of analogue equipment. This place provided the anvil and hammer to British Birds’ debut LP In Search of Mr Rykyn, a self-reflective, self-made, self-released record, released in February 2024, full of swirling melody, nostalgic sensibility and unshakable melancholy.

A bountiful 2025 lies ahead for British Birds, with their first twelve-date headline tour to look forward to in Autumn, to celebrate the release of their second album Silence Daedalus, self-made and self-released as ever, and out on the 15th June 2025. 500 vinyl copies will be available via bandcamp and in select record stores across the UK.

----------------------------------

HUMB - 90 MINUTE SET!!!!!
[ DONER BEAT RECORDS // JIGSORE SOUND // SCARED MONEY ]

Humb is a veteran of the UK's jungle and soundsystem scene, with countless events and various releases and under his belt as co-owner of the Jigsore soundsystem. Some of his classics from the label still gather somewhat of a cult following over 10 years after their release receiving regular plays at raves in the UK and beyond.

As long term resident of Hanoi Humb ran parties in the city for many years hosting a wide range of underground artists whilst building and running the legendary Birdcage nightclub, a 2 roomed semi outdoor venue sandwiched next to the red riveron the outskirts of the city. The development of the Vietnamese scene influenced his production style, pushing him to attack new styles whilst looking backwards to the roots of rave music.

The result was his most recent label, Doner Beat Records. Soon to drop their 14th release the label bridges the gap between jungle, acid, breaks and hardcore. Their music has found way into performances from the likes of FFF, Om Unit, Sherelle and Moy as well as Yosh's 2022 Boiler room and even resulted in a surprise collab with UKG legend Zed Bias, Whilst exploring new sounds Humb kept his love for faster tempos alive dropping a few jungle releases on vinyl in 2023/24.

Now returned to the UK with a few huge festival sets under his belt Humb is looking to the future with more forward amen rinsers dropping soon on Scared Money, Over/Shadow, Hardcore Energy and
beyond.

We are super gassed to have Humb on board & can't wait to hear him rinse out heavy business on the soundsystem!

Humour is a Glasgow-based five-piece band that emerged during the 2021 lockdowns. Their music blends post-punk, post-hardcore, and experimental rock, characterized by surreal lyrics and dynamic vocal performances. The band consists of Andreas Christodoulidis (vocals), Ross Patrizio (guitar), Jack Lyall (guitar), Lewis Doig (bass), and Ruairidh Smith (drums).

In November 2022, Humour released their debut EP, Pure Misery, through So Young Records. The EP received acclaim for its inventive sound and intense energy, with NME describing it as "a riot of invention". Their follow-up EP, A Small Crowd Gathered To Watch Me, was released in December 2023, further establishing their presence in the alternative music scene.

Humour's live performances have garnered attention, leading to tours across Europe, including appearances at festivals like Left of the Dial in Rotterdam. They have also played notable venues such as Glasgow's King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh.

The band's creative process is deeply intertwined with visual art, as frontman Andreas Christodoulidis creates sketches and artwork that accompany their music, aiming to make each song "look the way that it sounds".

Slap Rash - Their music fuses raw post-punk energy with industrial noise, delivered through a minimalist setup of bass, drums, and sparse electronics. Known for their visceral live performances and releases like the EP Catherine Special, they've carved a niche with their intense, expressive soundscapes.

Material Goods - UK-based duo blending industrial electronic and post-punk influences. Drawing inspiration from acts like Nine Inch Nails and IDLES, they craft gritty, analog synth-driven tracks characterized by distorted vocals and clean melodies. Formed in late 2023, their DIY ethos and raw energy have quickly made them a standout in the underground scene.

FRIDAY 23rd MAY from 7pm:

HAUSPOINTS

DEAD THINGS

[SLAB]

+ DJs TBA

>> Hauspoints:

Exploring a distinctly northern viewpoint on modernity, Hauspoints’ songs are like a love letter to popular culture, finding beauty in the mundane minutiae and celebrating the quirkiness of human existence.

Established on a dilapidated industrial estate at the foot of an overgrown hill in darkest Lancashire, their debut album, Eel Feeling, is a beat-heavy rasp that treads an unfurrowed path aside multiple genres without straying too far into the obscure.

>> dead things:

Dead Things are a three piece powerhouse embracing the grit of garage rock, while flaunting fractured riffs and infectious melodies. Obsessed with tales of death in their hometown, they yell their findings against a scuzzy fuzz-imbued racket - it's catchy, infectious post-punk at its best.

>> [slab]:

"A thrilling slice of post-punk/post-hardcore, full of dynamics". Post-rock trio piece [slab] formed in Manchester in 2019. Louder Than War made their recent debut Taut, Album of the Week with 5* rating, saying it is "a trip into the dark side of the Manchester music scene that cant be matched this year".

Sun13 said the album is "one of those moments that makes you realise why new music conquers all".

////////////////////////////////////////

SATURDAY 24th MAY from 4pm:

ALL HAIL HYENA

THE JACKPOT GOLDEN BOYS

GIDEON CONN

DISC JOCKEY

DILEMMAS

+ DJs TBA

>> All Hail Hyena:

Boasting over 1 million music streams and 60 million video plays, ALL HAIL HYENA is growing in popularity with a no-nonsense attitude towards being serious about making music that isn't serious and predictably unpredictable. After some landmark shows supporting the likes of Grandaddy & Ultrasound, ALL HAIL HYENA is a washed-up, middle-aged boy band writing bonkers alt punk in their pyjamas. You’re entitled to hate what they do.

>> The Jackpot Golden Boys:

The Jackpot Golden Boys' music ranges from catchy pop rock, Halloween punk bangers to heavy metal TV theme tunes... better to hear for yourself! Their live shows are an energetic blend of music, humour and crowd interaction.

>> Gideon Conn:

Gideon Conn is known for effortlessly blending acoustic folk and hip hop. His unique performance style never fails to impress. He has previously toured across the UK with the likes of Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Jason Mraz & Bunty. He has also made appearances at various festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival & Latitude.

>> Disc Jockey:

Originally known as The Shoestrings, the up & coming North West based punk band are now operating under a new alias in Disc Jockey. After only a short amount of time since their beginning Disc Jockey have already begun to make a name for themselves through their live performances and their new single ‘Man of the Year’ featuring on radio stations such as BBC Introducing.

>> Dilemmas:

Blackburn based trio Dilemmas are rapidly bringing a new wave of energetic, loud and captivating music to the alternative rock scene. With an ever growing audience, Hayden Atkinson (vocals and guitar), Jake Robinson (Drums) and Evan Hurley (bass) have brought a complete live sound to fans that’s bursting with energy and attitude, pushing the boundaries of what a raw, alternative three piece can achieve. Having supported the likes of Hotwax and Ruby J, Dilemmas have made it clear that they’re a must see live outfit with a bright future ahead of them.

////////////////////////////////////////

BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY 25th MAY from 4pm:

SKY VALLEY MISTRESS

COWTOWN

AHMED & THE ROMANS

HORSEMEAT

DAKOTA AVENUE

+ DJs TBA

>> Sky Valley Mistress:

Recording at the infamous Rancho de la Luna studios (QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys & Iggy Pop) was always destined to leave its cactus sharp mark on Sky Valley Mistress, as their latest cut sounds like it could also have been carved in the Californian Desert.

How the Hearse Rollin’, Flare Strollin’, Speaker ‘Splodin’ band recreate this in the flesh as the Dual Duel-Drumming Duo they now present themselves as, has to be seen to be believed. Stream-lined and stripped back from a four to a two piece, lead vocalist Kayley “Hell Kitten” Davies has now picked up the sticks and plays one half of a drum kit with former drummer MAX taking on the electric guitar whilst keeping one foot on the kick drum. No samples. No backing tracks. No click tracks.

No one is playing rock and roll the way that these two do.

>> Cowtown:

Leeds heroes of the DIY punk scene, and one of our all-time favourite bands. All hail COWTOWN! Dynamic overstimulated indie-rock and devolved synth-punk space jams.

>> Ahmed & The Romans:

Manchester's wonk-garage fuzzsperts Ahmed & The Romans are made up of three italians and an Anglo-Egyptian frontman. Their music is a heady mix of fuzzed out garage rock and sadistic post-punk.

>> Horsemeat:

Horsemeat are an aggressive blend of Hardcore, Post-Punk and Alternative Metal, with some progressive elements, which they have dubbed “Prunge” for short.

>> Dakota Avenue:

The explosive Alt-trio based in Manchester, bring us their indie-soul power, with a driving rhythm section and melodic pop-hook vocals.

JEFF CLARKE (The Black Lips / Demon’s Claws) -

the Canadian musician whose boisterous garage rock compositions with the legendary bands Demon’s Claws, Hellshovel, and the Black Lips led to King Khan identifying him as one of the “unsung heroes of rock n’ roll.”

This time out, Clarke’s sincere, poetic texts are accompanied only by his acoustic guitar. The warm, dreamy, minimalist folk sound is a stripped-down, melancholic change of pace.

In daring to present his unique sensibility in such a raw, elemental setting, latest album Locust marks a striking new direction and reveals Clarke to be a spiritual descendant of Townes van Zandt.

MAUD THE MOTH -

the solo project of Spanish-born and Scotland-based pianist, singer and songwriter Amaya López-Carromero. Maud the Moth serves as Amaya’s alter ego: a séance-like conduit through which to process personal life experiences, and in particular themes of rootlessness, identity and trauma. Stylistically, Maud the moth uses her classical training as a platform upon which her eclectic songwriting and cathartic solo live performances rest. With the usage of live looping, Amaya weaves sonic tapestries riddled with distorted or effected pianos and driven by an enigmatic and deeply moving voice.

Mikey D.O.N:

A real legend in the music scene, Mikey started his career at a very early age – after getting his first turntable in 1975. Late 1986 saw Mikey, along with his older brother and close family friend, start a rap group called KRISPY 3. The group’s first-ever appearance was on Steve Barker’s legendary ‘On The Wire’ radio show on Radio Lancashire on Sunday January 10th 1987. Krispy 3 were one of the first Hip Hop acts out of the UK to do BBC Radio 1 Sessions for John Peel, and also Steve Lamacq & Jo Whiley. Krispy 3 also made history by being one of the first UK hip hop acts to get heavy rotation on’ Yo! MTV Raps’ – resulting in Mikey now being humbly known as a UK Hip Hop Pioneer.

The honour and respect Mikey’s gained over the decades has lead him to DJing and performing at countless shows ranging from the likes Lee Scratch Perry, Bunny Wailer, David Rodigan, Maxi Priest, Marcia Griffiths, Gregory Isaacs, etc, to Hip Hop acts Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, Biz Markie, Slum Village, Ali Shaheed Mohammed (ATCQ), Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Roots Manuva, Gangstarr, Ultra Magnetic MC’s, etc, funk groups like Roy Ayers, Breakestra, Brand New Heavies, to D&B/Junglist legends Nicky Blackmarket, Aries, DJ Hype, etc, and playing many club nights and venues such as Fabric, Eat Your Greens, Hit & Run, D*Percussion & Club Asylum (Jamaica) to name but a few. The same goes for Festivals such as BoomTown, SolFest, BeatHerder, Latitude, Boom Bap, Kendal Calling, etc – the list goes on and on.

with guest MCs from across the North West: Lomax + Seek The Northerner, Peggy, JustSean R.A.

Plus live music from: La French.

Not to mention, a pre-gig late-afternoon beer garden session from Jazzin The Park DJs, plus a late-night after-party with Big Things DJs and guests.

WE HATE YOU PLEASE DIE

(Rouen, France)

Back with their new album “Chamber Songs”, We Hate You Please Die reveals the pages of their diary made up of angry texts, influenced by punk and riot girls.

On stage, the sincerity of Chloé, Mathilde and Joseph stirs emotions, frenzy and transmits the energy of their liberating universe. Between tension and violence, the trio finds its source in noise as much as in introspection.

With support from: THE DSM IV

Formed in Liverpool in 2018 by former Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster frontman Guy McKnight, THE DSM IV crystallise the ultra real and the otherworldly, bringing a focused hyperrealism to the party. Their convention-defying live performances toy with audience expectations and stimulate questions of the narratives being sold to us as news—or entertainment—all to the beat of the drum machinist.
