The BEST of PRESTON
. . .
The Best of Preston, running since 2022, is a series of events produced by Martyn Rolly Music to celebrate the songwriting talent of the greater Preston area.
On Thursday, 11th July at The Ferret in Preston, we bring you:
Aaron McMullan:
Singer/Songwriter influenced by John Martyn and more contemporary acts like John Smith, The Tallest Man On Earth and John Paul White. Aaron John McMullan is a singer/songwriter from Preston, Lancashire. (Originally from Northern Ireland) The Breathe EP is a self penned, self recorded and self produced set of songs and his first foray into online streaming.
. . .
Millicent Weaver:
Millicent fluctuates from writing acoustic pop ballads to lo-fi dream-pop hooks, simultaneously fine-tuning and evolving her sound, with no barrier to whichever artistic direction she chooses.
Sharing her parents' taste for artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush and Sheryl Crow; Keane, Snow Patrol and Green Day; MILLICENT's list of influences then grew from her own exploration of other people and their influences, with the root of her lyricism stemming from self-reflection, depersonalisation & derealisation, and communicating with inner voices of conflict.
. . .
Lee Richards:
Born and raised in the North West of England, Lee Richards found solace and inspiration all around him. From a young age, music became his constant companion, shaping his worldview and igniting a passion that would drive his artistic journey.
Drawing influence from the soulful melodies of rock, the heartfelt lyrics of blues, and the timeless storytelling of folk, Lee developed a unique sound that seamlessly weaves together elements of these genres. With acoustic guitar in hand, pouring heart and soul into each chord and lyric.
