A decade ago DJ Woody’s AV set 'Hip Hop is 40' celebrated the genre’s big 4-0 and was described as 'The best video DJ set i've ever seen!' by Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5). The show took him around the World to clubs, festivals and arts spaces, sharing stages with hip hop icons from Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature to Salt & Pepa. In 2023 Hip Hop turns 50! So Woody decided to revisit, remix and reinvent the show to help party-goers celebrate hip hop’s landmark half century!
Expect eye-popping visuals, mind bending scratch skills and tunes from the likes of Melle Mel to Missy, Run DMC to Run The Jewels, Dilla to De La, Beasties to Biggy, J5 to Jay-Z, KRS to Kendrick, you get the idea!
One of Mixmaster Mike's (Beastie Boys) favourite DJs, described as 'The best DJ in the World' by Hudson Mohawke, labelled a genius by DJ Qbert. 2 Times World Champion, DJ Woody is one of the UK’s most influential turntablists. Known for his innovations, he helped design the Worlds first ever musical turntable instrument and is famed as a prolific pioneer of new scratch techniques. DJ, AV performer, designer, producer and label owner, Woody is also an avid lover of vinyl and member of the renowned DJ crew ’45 Live’ performing vinyl only 45’s sets at clubs and festivals Worldwide with the likes of fellow crew members DJ Format, Mr Thing, DJ Food (Ninjatune), Andy Smith (Portishead), Ollie Teeba (Herbaliser), Jon More (Coldcut) and production partner Boca 45.
