HED Promotions returns to The Ferret with a barnstorming line-up on Saturday May 6th - the day of King Charles' coronation, so it's the perfect excuse to escape the television coverage!

It's an eclectic night of music full of sonic joy and wonder - which sees the return of one of HED's favourite overseas acts - all the way from Japan.

MOJA (from Tokyo, Japan)

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKN7BddiS0g

Moja (pronounced moya) are a thundering duo from Japan who have toured the world with their chaotic brand of explosive noise. From New York via Quebec and back to Tokyo they now return to Preston for the first time since Covid. They are pure dynamite on stage - a sheer joy to watch perform. Do not miss them!

"Their songs have mental structures with colliding riffs and stop starts and finish with a last song that kicks back into its sledgehammer riff over and over. Moja are a stunning live experience, they make freak music sound like party music, their obvious pleasure at the death to trad rock that they create is brilliantly hypnotic." - Louder Than War

"Drummer Masumi Sakurai is a wild, feckless, she-devil on the skins. Her hair thrashing forward like a burst black cloud continuously throughout... A triumph of post-rock distortion that veers surreptitiously and subtly towards dance on occasion. There’s elements of drum solo jazz exquisiteness too that rails tunes beautifully off the path you expect them to go down." - Purple Revolver

HAUSPOINTS (from Chorley)

https://hauspoints.com

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uuq3TjZEfJs

Hauspoints make their first appearance at The Ferret after a stunning debut at the Continental earlier in the year. Hauspoints’ songs explore a distinctly northern viewpoint on modernity. They are like a love letter to popular culture that finds beauty in the mundane and celebrates the quirkiness of human existence. Some people say they sound like the Fall, which is fine by the band, but the members themselves hear the likes of NEU!, Squid and Roxy Music in the mix. Steven Hodson plays analogue and digital percussion, Nik Brierly plays synthesisers and digital percussion, Sam Almond sings and plays guitar, Rob Clarke plays guitar and sings, Sam Beaton plays saxophone, melodica and synthesisers.

IVAN CAMPO (from Preston)

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0rl9ri6KxI

Ivan Campo conjure up vivid images with their songs, which unfold like intricate stories. Finger-picked guitar riffs and piano melodies act as the stage for these tales to play out. Emphasised with simple percussion instruments that they flit between effortlessly, they are simply captivating live. They are currently in the process of recording their next album - a collection of songs based on episodes of Rod Serling's 'The Twilight Zone' - which will be out later this year.

VICE VERA (from Manchester)

https://www.facebook.com/viceverauk

Vice Vera is the solo project of Manchester-based musician Tamsin Middleton. Using loop pedals, haunting vocal melodies are layered with off-kilter guitars and percussive textures to create an insistent, joyous and confrontational sonic landscape. Echoes of PJ Harvey and Siouxie Sioux can be heard, though the songs retain a unique quality that is Vice Vera's own.
